physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession with a Science Foundation, which helps to restore an individual’s movement, function and quality of life through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention of their injury or illness.

During your Initial Consultation, we will thoroughly examine and assess your presenting complaint, which in turn will allow us to identify the best treatment plan and tailor this to your individual needs.

Our treatment and rehabilitation programme will continue to progress with you as you recover and we restore your health and well-being.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including nerve pain, muscle spasm, joint pain and headaches, by boosting the levels of natural pain-killers (endorphins) in the nervous system and stimulating the body’s natural healing process.

High quality pre-sterilised single use needles are used, alongside other treatment techniques, for those patients open to this form of treatment if and when indicated.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy can be used to mobilise and manipulate joints and muscles to alleviate pain and help a number of sports and work-related conditions.

It can be used in combination with our full physiotherapy service or on its own for relaxation and relief from pain.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue. It focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and its purpose is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points. Deep Tissue Massage is both corrective and therapeutic, beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage can include a variety of techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point release, muscle energy techniques, and friction massage.

Our Massage Therapists are highly trained and will implement the techniques they feel necessary for your requirement, whether that be pre or post event, relaxation, pain relief, lymphatic drainage or just continued promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Here at the clinic we also have a pregnancy pillow, which allows you to lie on your front during pregnancy and enjoy the benefits of relaxation massage, releasing those aches and pains in an extremely comfortable position for you.

Sports injury rehabilitation

Following any sports injury, establishing and understanding the cause of the problem is crucial. Following a detailed assessment, a treatment program will be devised to address the current symptoms and prevent future re-occurrence. Your rehabilitation will be focussed towards the specific demands of your sport.

Typical types of pain

  • Heel Pain (plantar fasciitis)

  • Achilles tendon pain

  • Shin pain

  • Hip and knee pain

  • Joint pain – general or specific

  • Nerve pain

We take between 3000 and 15000 steps a day so any inefficiency in foot function is multiplied many times over.  This can be the basis for many foot and lower limb problems.

A careful biomechanics examination attempts to pick out these minor imbalances and correct them.

Podiatry Assessment

We offer a full Biomechanical Assessment and advise you on the correct orthotics, if required, to correct your gait pattern.

This altered function can affect the whole lower limb, pelvis and back thus improving the bodes general posture and function
